The season of golden leaves, crisp evenings, crackling fires and autumn sparkle is getting closer. And that means only one thing - FIREWORKS!
Whether you are a long-time resident or a first-time visitor, the Chislehurst Rotary Charity Fireworks Spectacular is the highlight of the local autumn calendar. Every November, the Chislehurst Recreation Ground transforms into a vibrant festival of light, music, and community spirit.
The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Chislehurst, a team of dedicated volunteers. 100% of the profits are donated to local charities such as Marjorie McLure School, Demelza House and the Chislehurst Remembrance service, and international projects such as the eradication of Polio and aid for Ukraine and Nepal
What to Expect

The Main Display: A breathtaking pyrotechnic show designed by award-winning display fireworks company Fireworks Crazy

Children’s Fun Fair: A dedicated area for the under-12s, featuring traditional rides and attractions to keep the little ones entertained before the big show.

International Food Stalls: From gourmet burgers and hot dogs to exotic street food, there is a wide variety of hot food and drinks to keep you warm.

Live Entertainment: The evening is hosted by local favorite DJ Andy Will, who will keep the atmosphere buzzing

The Cockpit Beer Tent: For the adults, local independent micro-pub The Cockpit will provide a selection of craft ales and seasonal drinks.

The Chislehurst Fireworks have been a community staple for over 45 years. While the technology behind the displays has evolved, the heart of the event remains the same: bringing the Chislehurst and surrounding communities together for a good cause.

GETTING TO THE EVENT
To ensure a smooth and safe entry for everyone, we operate multiple gates. Please check your ticket or the map below to find your most convenient entrance.
The entrance can get very busy as we get closer to the fireworks start time at 7:30pm. Please arrive in good time to allow yourself to be in the venue by 7:00pm at the latest to avoid disappointment
Entrances

Main Entrance (Empress Drive): Located off Willow Grove (near the High Street Sainsbury’s). This is the primary access point and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Walden Road Entrance: Located adjacent to No. 5 Walden Road. This is the best entrance if you are walking from the Elmstead Woods direction.

Victoria Road Entrance: Accessible via the Walden Road Recreation Ground path.

Note on the Library Path: For safety and crowd control, the footpath from Red Hill (by the library) is closed for entry during the event, though it may be used as an exit after the display.
Parking & Road Closures

There is no parking available inside Chislehurst Recreation Ground or on Empress Drive itself. Local residential roads become very congested, so we strongly encourage walking or using public transport.

By Bus: The Rec is exceptionally well-served by local buses. Routes 61, 160, 161, 162, and 273 all stop on the High Street or near Red Hill, just a 5-minute walk from the Empress Drive entrance.

By Train: The nearest station is Elmstead Woods (Southeastern). From the station, it is a pleasant 15–20 minute walk to the Walden Road entrance. Alternatively, Chislehurst Station is a short bus ride or 25-minute walk away.

The event is held on grass, which can become muddy depending on the weather. However, the Empress Drive and Walden Road entrances offer the flattest access routes for wheelchair users and families with strollers.

What to Leave at Home

Sparklers & Personal Fireworks: For the safety of the crowds, members of the public are strictly prohibited from bringing or using their own fireworks or sparklers inside the Recreation Ground.

Alcohol: No outside alcohol is permitted. Bag searches will be in operation at all entrances. Don't worry, though—hot drinks and refreshments are available inside!

Pets: While we love our furry friends, the loud bangs and large crowds can be highly distressing for animals. No pets (except registered assistance dogs) are allowed on site.

Glass & Sharps: To prevent injuries on the grass (which is used by sports teams year-round), please do not bring glass bottles, jars, or metal cutlery.

Drones: Unauthorised drone filming is strictly prohibited to ensure the safety of the pyrotechnic display and the public.
Family Safety

Supervision: Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Lost Children: If you become separated from your child, please report immediately to the Rotary Control Point or any steward wearing a high-visibility vest.

Noise Protection: The display can be very loud. We highly recommend ear defenders or earplugs for younger children and those with sensory sensitivities.

Follow the Stewards: Our marshals are all volunteers giving up their time for charity. Please follow their instructions regarding crowd movement and safety barriers.
Advice for Local Pet Owners
Even if you aren't attending, we know the fireworks can be a stressful time for Chislehurst’s pets. To help them stay calm:

Walk Dogs Early: Ensure your dogs are exercised and back inside well before the gates open at 5:00 PM.

Create a "Den": Set up a quiet space with their favourite toys and blankets away from windows.

Background Noise: Closing curtains and keeping the TV or radio on can help muffle the sound of the display.

Stay Secure: Ensure all windows, doors, and cat flaps are locked to prevent "bolt" runners.
Where can I buy tickets?
All tickets must be purchased online in advance. There will be no ticket sales at the gate, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment! We are pleased to anounce we have held the ticket prices at the same level as last year
Is there parking available?
Parking at Chislehurst Recreation Ground is extremely limited. We strongly advise using local public transport or walking to the event wherever possible. Parking is available at Hornbrook House, Chislehurst High Street and Red Hill Car parks at the car park operators standard rates
Can I bring chairs and blankets?
Absolutely! Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets for comfort. Please ensure walkways are kept clear for others.
Will there be food and alcohol?
Yes! We have a wide variety of street food stalls and a craft beer garden hosted by The Cockpit Chislehurst, serving both alcoholic and soft drinks.
What if I can't make it after I have bought my tickets?
The cost of running an event like this are significant, and all profits that are made are distributed to local and international charities and projects. For these reasons, all tickets to this event are NON-REFUNDABLE

What time do Chislehurst Fireworks start?
Gates open at 5:00 PM for food, drinks, and entertainment. The main fireworks display is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.
Is Chislehurst Fireworks wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the site is accessible via the main gates on Empress Drive and Walden Road. Please note the event is held on a grass recreation ground which may be uneven or soft underfoot.
Are sparklers allowed?
No. For the safety of our visitors, personal fireworks and sparklers are strictly prohibited and will be confiscated by security at the gate.
Is Chislehurst Fireworks suitable for children?
Yes! We provide a safe family environment with a lost child meeting point and full stewarding. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Every year the Chislehurst Fireworks event brings joy to the people of Chislehurst, and raises thousands of ££ for local charities. We are the Rotary Club of Chislehurst and the organizers of the event. We are a charity ourselves, and everything we raise goes directly to other charities
This event can only go ahead with volunteers (we need 60 event marshals for example!), and that’s where you can help. You will be fully briefed and supported throughout the event, will be helping to delivering for the community, and you won’t have to pay for a ticket! We’ll even give you a free family ticket for up to 3 other members of your family!!
We need support during the day on 7th November and at the event itself in the evening. If you can only do part of the day or only the event, that’s fine, any help is greatly appreciated
